So, the first 4 letters are LITERALLY Oppo, and we’re going with “ oppy”?

Hell no, I’m out.

I’d wager that question is asked by someone at every amateur marathon.

An Oppy should be a race in six-wheeled vehicles.

I say that every time I run. Then they hand me a beer at the race  finish and I forget again.

The marathons I’ve done have all been right but I’v e definitely done a few half marathons that were off by over a mile but didn’t disclose (we know the Leadville half is 15.5, but the trail half at Vail was a soul-destroying 14.6 the third and last year I ran it).

I support the idea but I’d hate running it.

Considering I can’t run just the 2 mile difference, much less 28 miles in total , I certainly shan’t be a participant.

I stayed in Vail years ago, and loved running on the trails out there. Ive thought about an off road half. Is it that much harder than a road half?

Also, huge respect for taking on races at altitude. You did Leadville?

Umm...hmm. The downhills are better as long as you pick your feet up and they’re usually shady ! I think it really depends on the course - a lot of races out here are primarily one direction or the other (all downhill or all uphill) or you get one gigantic climb and the associated downhill. I love trail running if it’s rolling hills and those are harder to find out here.

Just the half. I’m thinking of signing up again this year but I’m having progressively worse issues with altitude and no idea what’s causing it. But I’ve promised a friend I’ll pace him for part of the 100 so I need to get my butt in gear!

Out here in Virginia it's nice rolling single track for the most part. Ive done adventure races, but those are a good mix of biking, running, and canoeing, so never that worried about all the pounding.

Good luck! I can't imagine doing the 100.

I’ve run quite a bit of the James River Park System/Forest Hill Park in Richmond! My first half was a trail race somewhere out near Charlottesville.

Nice! I'm up either on the Potomac or a little south in the reservoir systems (ookequan)
